I have this recipe from a book I received a couple of years ago. What I like in this little book, is that all the recipes are about chocolate! And even if I haven’t tried them all yet, as I am trying to pace myself and not go crazy over the chocolate, there are some that I couldn’t not try! This one is one of them, and goes really well for breakfast, or any time of the day actually 😛
Ingrédients:
The base:
- 450 to 500 g of flour
- 75 g of butter
- 1 pack of baking powder
- 150 ml of milk
- 50 g of sugar
- 2 eggs
The filling:
- 20 g of soft butter
- 150 g of dry apricots
- 100 g of dark chocolate chips
- 1 to 2 tablespoons of milk
- 25 g of melted dark chocolate (optional)
Times:
- Preparation: 25 mins
- Cooking: 20 mins
- Rest: 30 mins
1- Add the baking powder to the flour, then add the soft butter and mix well.
2- Incorporate the sugar, the eggs and the milk, and knead until the dough doesn’t stick to the recipient (add a little bit of flour if needed). Wrap in cling film and chill for half an hour.
3- Roll out the dough into a 35 cm squared shape over a baking tray covered with baking paper.
4- Preheat the oven at 180 Celsius degrees. Spread the 20 gr of melted butter evenly.
5- Chop the apricots and spread them evenly on the dough as well as the chocolate chips. Make sure you keep 2 cm on the edges of 2 opposites sides of the square.
6- Roll the dough very tightly, and cut slices of 2 to 3 cm thickness.
7- Line the slices in a greased round cake tin (24 cm diameter), overlap them a little bit. Brush with the milk and put into the oven for 20 to 25 minutes, until golden on the top.
8- Let it cool down for 15 minutes before taking it out of the tin. Once it is at room temperature, you can add a final touch by spreading splashes of melted chocolate all over the crown.
